Sunday Update: Just Decide

Balance work with medicine ball

Yes, I know it’s Monday.  Sometimes you gotta take some time off and go somewhere new.  I did that this past weekend.  Met my friend Erin Criss at LeClaire, Iowa and had a working vacation.  We wrote her LinkedIn Summary.  We ate at fine restaurants.  We talked and talked and talked.  We sat and looked at the storms and the Mississippi River.  I came clean.

I haven’t seen Erin in 5 years. We talk all the time, but it’s very easy to talk on the phone or on the computer and avoid the conversations that are important.  I was finally ready to see her face to face.  Because I knew she’d ask the hard questions.  I knew she’d dig until she got to the heart of the matter.

The thing is, being fat has been a great way to avoid anyone getting close to me.  It’s been a soft, fat coat of protection.  It’s allowed me to be okay if I failed because .. well, I’m fat.  I couldn’t be expected to succeed.

I’m confident.  I know my shit.  I’m smart.  I’m of value.  But I’ve been scared of failure for a long time.  In my little made up world, people don’t fail.  Or people who fail are bad people.  Yes, my self esteem is fine – better than it has been in years.  But it could be better.

So I’m declaring to you and everyone, it’s okay to fail.  See .. failure is not the opposite of success.  Failure leads to success, it’s part of success.

Get it? Got it!  Good.

Me and my friend, Michael.

Me and my friend, Michael.

I promised you last time that I’d talk about what I’m doing to assist the process of finding my way to wellness.  The supplements I take, and have taken for ten years, are responsible for me being alive.  You see, being fat and predisposed to diabetes, heart disease and stroke (both sides of the family, thank you) leads to death.  At the very least, by now, I should be diabetic.  I’m not.  I take the best vitamins in the world.  I’ve gotten rid of all the toxins in my house and that makes for much better living.  I’m a product advocate for Melaleuca.  Made in America, over 29 years in business, creating wellness and safety for pets, people and the planet.  It’s important for you to know that I am not selling you product.  Good Lord, you’re smart enough to buy your own stuff online.  I’m not in the business of ordering, delivering and collecting money for products.  I’m in a part time business where I get paid to refer people to a company that manufactures product that has saved my life.

So just now I ordered more of the products that are designed specifically for weight loss.  Because I am losing weight.  I’m lifting weights and redesigning my body.  I’m eating better and working on this even more.  Why not use what I know works, is scientifically proven to work, patented and affordable?

I’m on the path.  Are you going to join me?
