Harvest Tour 2011

The weekend of September 30 to October 2, 2011 there will be 10 bloggers (and their families) from all over the Midwest in Franklin County, Iowa.  Franklin County Tourism, Franklin County Farm Bureau, Latham Hi-Tech Seeds and Debworks have coordinated a Fall Harvest Bloggers Tour.  The goal is to bring bloggers here to share in the things we do in Franklin County, tell the agriculture story and simply enjoy the weekend.  They will take lots of pictures, talk to people and probably ask a few questions too.  Then the bloggers will share their stories online.  You can read more about each blogger at https://needalittleadvice.com/harvest-tour-2011/

There are many events where the public can attend for no cost that weekend. The 20th Anniversary Car Show will be around Band Shell Park Saturday 12 to 4 pm and will be celebrating Hampton’s 20th year as a Main Street Community.  The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.  Be sure to stop in at Center 1 and view the Agricultural Discovery Exhibits on Saturday afternoon.  There will be walking tours of downtown Hampton most of the day presenting the historical buildings in the district.  Harriman-Nielsen Historic Farm holds their annual Fall Festival on Sunday October 2nd at 2.  Bring the kids, eat some pie and have a lot of fun!

There will also be a Harvest Tour for anyone interested.  Besides all the activities listed above, Tour Attendees will enjoy the Star Gazing on Friday evening, ride a combine on Saturday, enjoy a Model T ride Saturday evening before attending the Windsor Theatre event An Evening Like It Used to Be.   The cost is $50 and you can purchase your ticket at Center 1 in Hampton (641-456-5668) or buy it online at www.HamptonIowa.org
